SungWoo Han

Han Sungwoo's work often revolves around traces of landscapes that are socially unwelcomed, pushed aside, forgotten, and disappearing. The artist interprets these landscapes from physical, psychological, and structural perspectives, expanding them from personal experiences to social contexts. In this process, the encountered entities settle on the canvas like recording a diary, maintaining a calm presence.
The "fw" series departs from memories of floral-patterned wallpapers and remnants left on the walls of a house where one lived for a long time in the past. These materials, which were once traces of someone's life, approach as forms of absence and linger in the present as remnants of memories, transformed into artworks.
