Museum Hanmi holds a joint exhibition titled Seunggu KIM · Changan SON as part of the 22/23 MH Talent Portfolio program from July 14th to September 24th at the Samcheong Annex. The MH Talent Portfolio program aims to foster continuous collaboration between artists in their 30s and 40s who work based on photography and create a platform for exchange in the contemporary photography scene. Selected artists go through a two-stage process consisting of digital portfolio evaluation and artist presentations. They are then supported in expanding their artistic practice through solo and group exhibitions, participation in international portfolio reviews, and the production of related publications.

In this exhibition, Seunggu KIM and Changan SON explore the convergence points where the images obtained through observation, utilizing the inherent characteristic of the recordability of the photographic medium, resonate within sequential compositional methods. Seunggu KIM, who has been focusing on the coexistence of nature and humans, goes beyond coexistence and now delves into the order of interaction between the two. His new work, Hadong Observatory, captures subtle changes in the atmosphere from a fixed point between Hallyeosudo and Hadong Power Plant. Changan SON collected images of his daily life inside the computer, which dominated a significant portion of his time during his study in Germany. The collected images could serve as evidence of the time he spent. He reassembles the images in the virtual world of the series, Private Dokumentation 2 – Überwachungskamera, which the automated program split up into every minute, extracting them into the realm of reality on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis by installations.

These images, recorded analogically or digitally, through photography or screen captures, are expected to generate discourse on the categorization of the medium.
