JinKyun Ahn

When Ahn Jin-gyun (1983) works, he uses the resemblance between parents and children as a metaphor for the reproducibility of photographs. Similar to the hierarchy formed between the original and its copy in photography, he assumes that parents and children are also interdependent on each other through their resemblance. The artist undertakes a series of futile attempts to destroy the rigid system inherent in such resemblance. He then questions the authority of the things that are taken for granted or considered absolute.
